Arlington, TX — William Lucas Waybourn, the 20-year-old adopted son of Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, was arrested Monday by Arlington police on charges of soliciting a minor, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He was released on a $25,500 bond, according to court records.
Police responded to a business on South Bowen Road around 4:45 p.m. after a girl under 18 reported that a man-made sexually explicit comments and followed her. Officers identified and stopped Waybourn nearby.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office confirmed William’s arrest in a statement. Sheriff Waybourn urged families not to be deterred from adoption, describing the incident as a difficult but surmountable challenge. The family has requested privacy during this time.
