Fort Worth ISD may face state intervention after Leadership Academy at Forest Oak 6th Grade received five straight failing ratings.
Per Texas law, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) must either close the school or take over the entire district by appointing a board of managers.
Although FWISD tried to preempt the issue by consolidating the school last fall, final accountability ratings aren’t out until August. If the school’s grade doesn’t improve, major changes—including loss of local control—could be on the horizon, similar to what happened in Houston ISD.
Local leaders hope to resolve the issues without a state takeover.
