This week marks the start of STAAR testing at Benbrook Middle-High School, a stretch that brings a quieter, more focused rhythm to campus.
Classrooms that are usually filled with discussion and group work shift toward concentration, as students settle in to show what they have been building all year. School leaders are encouraging families to keep things simple but steady. Make sure students are present, well rested, have eaten, and bring a fully charged device.
The first round begins Wednesday, April 8, with 6th through 8th grade ELA and English I, followed by the English II exam on Thursday, April 9.
Testing continues in the following weeks:
On Wednesday, April 15, students will take 8th-grade Science and Biology, and on Thursday, April 16, they will take 8th-grade Social Studies and U.S. History.
The final round is scheduled for the week of April 22, with Math for grades 6 through 8 on Wednesday and Algebra I on Thursday, April 23.
For many families, STAAR season is as much about preparation at home as it is performance at school. Early nights, steady routines, and a bit of encouragement can go a long way.
After months of work from both students and teachers, the focus now is simple. Show up ready and give it your best.
