Just south of Benbrook near Cresson, a mid-morning crash at the US 377 and Pate Road crossover brought traffic to a halt Tuesday.
Around 10:30 a.m., first responders closed the southbound lanes to free a seriously injured driver trapped inside a vehicle.
An air medical helicopter was called to the scene, requiring the roadway to be fully shut down. By 11:45 a.m., one lane was reopened, and traffic was flowing again. Officials confirmed the highway was completely cleared shortly after noon.
The swift response of emergency crews helped stabilize the scene and restore traffic. Motorists in the area are reminded to drive cautiously and allow room for first responders during emergencies.
