Second Grader’s Project Raises Thousands for Local Farm.

What started as a classroom assignment turned into something much bigger for one Benbrook-area nonprofit.

Stone’s Throw Farm Co. recently shared that Trish Stone, a leader connected to the farm, was selected as a “community hero” by a second grader at Fort Worth Country Day. After interviewing Trish and presenting her story to classmates, the student’s project stood out among her peers.

The impact did not stop there. Inspired by the project, the second-grade class raised more than $2,800 to support Stone’s Throw Farm, a local organization known for its community-focused efforts.

For the farm, the moment was both unexpected and meaningful. It is not every day that a classroom project turns into real support for local work, but it speaks to how early awareness can lead to tangible impact.
