Benbrook residents got an unexpected spectacle about midday today when a 200-pound potbellied pig was spotted trotting down 20/820 near Bryant Irvin.
Calls flooded 911 as drivers reported the unusual traffic hazard, but while authorities were alerted, it was local Good Samaritans who ultimately came to the rescue.
By 2 p.m., at least four people had pulled over, attempting to corral the wayward swine. One resident later confirmed that while police never arrived to assist, the pig was safely secured—though not without a struggle. Those who stepped in were left covered in blood, likely from minor injuries the pig sustained after falling from a trailer. Fortunately, the resilient hog is expected to make a full recovery.
Now, the big question remains: Will the pig’s owners come forward, or will this unexpected highway adventurer find a new home?
Either way, this is one for the books—because only in Benbrook does a loose pig turn afternoon traffic into an impromptu rodeo.
