Rezoning Showdown Tomorrow at Benbrook City Hall.

Tomorrow night could shape Benbrook’s future in a way residents will feel for decades.

At 7 p.m. inside Benbrook City Hall, the City Council is set to vote on rezoning the Rowan Ranch property, a tract of land that sits along the Mary’s Creek floodplain.

Locals are urging neighbors to pack the room in opposition, warning that the development brings potential safety risks and zoning that does not fit the surrounding neighborhoods. The goal is to have at least 500 residents attend. So far, only a fraction of that number has committed online.

Organizers are asking residents to wear green as a show of unity. Even those uncomfortable with public speaking are encouraged to step to the podium, state their name and address, and register opposition. Staying through the evening matters, but so does simply showing up to make the community’s presence undeniable.

The decision is more than a line on a zoning map. It could alter flood safety, reshape neighborhoods, and define how Benbrook grows. If you live here, your voice counts tomorrow night.

The meeting takes place Thursday, August 21, 7:00 p.m. at Benbrook City Hall, 911 Winscott Rd. Learn more at savemaryscreek.org.
