Residents Brace for 377 Slowdown Due to Lane Closures.

If you’ve tried to drive down 377 South lately and noticed a mess brewing near Arby’s, you’re not imagining it.

Starting August 8, the right lane on 377 South will be closed for an estimated 4 to 6 weeks. And yes, it’s likely to throw a wrench in your daily commute.

The exact reason? Still not crystal clear. Some believe it’s tied to the construction around the car wash and new development at the corner of 377 and Westpark.

Others speculate it’s leftover trouble from a recent water main break under 377 in nearby Granbury. But for now, official word from the city remains quiet.

Parents with kids at the high school are particularly concerned, unsure if the closure will clog up drop-off lines. And for those living north of the area, the drive is expected to get a lot longer and more frustrating.

Longtime residents have voiced their disappointment with the city’s traffic planning, pointing out that 377 was originally designed to be a freeway. Instead, it’s become a daily headache, and 2871 isn’t far behind.

While we wait on more clarity from Benbrook officials, locals are offering up some detour wisdom: try FM 2871 or Winscott/Lakeside to get around the congestion.

Just don’t tell too many people because those routes only help if they don’t become the next bottleneck.

Benbrook drivers, gear up. This might be a long few weeks.
