A zoning request tied to a large stretch of land along Loop 820 is headed to the Benbrook City Council, and residents are being encouraged to pay attention and show up.
The notice, dated December 31, 2025, requests rezone of roughly 80 acres on the east side of Loop 820 between Veterans Drive and Chapin Road, near 4501 W Loop 820. The proposal would shift portions of the property to expanded multi-family planned development and one-family zoning, a move that could significantly shape future growth in this corridor.
The public hearing will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers at Benbrook City Hall, located at 911 Winscott Road. All interested residents are invited to attend and share feedback.
Local residents with Benbrook Advocates for Responsible Development are urging neighbors to be present, emphasizing that decisions like this have long-term impacts on traffic, infrastructure, housing density, and quality of life.
Public hearings are one of the few moments when residents can speak directly in the process before decisions are made. For many, this meeting is an opportunity to listen, ask questions, and ensure community voices are part of the conversation at Benbrook City Council.
Those who live nearby or care about how Benbrook grows may want to mark their calendars.
