Opal Lee’s Open Letter to President Trump.

On Inauguration Day, Fort Worth’s Opal Lee, known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth, wrote an open letter urging President Donald Trump to embrace unity and courage in his leadership.

Lee, a key figure in securing Juneteenth as a national holiday, highlighted her lifelong work for human dignity and equality.

In her letter, Lee reflected on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and called on the new president to rise above division and lead by example. She emphasized that true freedom can only be achieved through courageous leadership and urged Trump to walk alongside her in the pursuit of unity and service to humanity.

Lee, who has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and received a Presidential Medal of Freedom, ended her letter by inviting the president to join her in the ongoing fight for freedom and unity.
