BENBROOK, TX — Harry Scoggin Jr., a longtime Benbrook resident, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 9, 2025, at the age of 86 following a long illness. Known for his warm personality, creativity, and love for family, Harry leaves behind a legacy marked by thoughtfulness and craftsmanship.
Married to Paula since 1992, the couple shared more than three decades filled with family gatherings, deep friendships, and simple joys. Harry found fulfillment in woodworking, designing and building everything from custom decks to card tables for game nights in his later years. A passionate bird watcher, he also spent time cheering on Houston sports teams and supporting his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Harry was also a gifted writer, with several published works to his name. Friends and family knew him as both well-read and well-liked, always ready to listen and connect. That gift of listening, he often joked, came in handy being part of an Irish family.
