Neighbors Recover Missing Garage Sale Signs After City Help.

What started as a small neighborhood mystery in Benbrook ended with a simple phone call and a happy resolution.

Residents recently noticed that their large, metal neighborhood garage sale sign—used year after year to promote community sales—had disappeared from its usual spot near 2871 and Rolling Hills Drive.

At first, neighbors wondered if it had been taken by mistake or removed by scrappers. After a few messages exchanged among residents, it became clear that the City of Benbrook’s code compliance team had likely collected the sign, as part of their regular efforts to clear roadside displays.

A quick call to City Hall confirmed the hunch. City Manager Jim Hinderaker, reached at 817-249-6005, personally ensured that the matter was handled and that code enforcement followed up. The sign was returned, and residents praised the city’s friendly response and willingness to help.

The small incident served as a reminder of how local communication and cooperation can quickly solve problems. For residents with similar concerns about removed signs or code compliance questions, the City of Benbrook encourages them to call the main office or visit benbrook-tx.gov for assistance.
