Benbrook residents hoping to hit the water this spring may be disappointed to learn that the Benbrook Lake Marina remains shuttered—and not much is being said about why.
Officially, the closure is due to vague “safety concerns,” though no specific details have been shared with the public. The marina, once a go-to spot for wet slips, boat storage, crappie fishing, and lakeside snacks, has quietly disappeared from active operations, leaving locals with more questions than answers.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department still lists Benbrook Lake Marina on its site, but the digital trail stops there. The marina’s Facebook page hasn’t seen a new post since September 2021. Curious commenters asking whether the closure is permanent have been met with silence—or reports that phone calls go unanswered.
Further digging reveals that their former website, once hosted through GoDaddy, now redirects to a generic placeholder page. A visit to the Wayback Machine shows the last active homepage dated back to March 2016, adding to the uncertainty.
Located at 301 Lakeview Dr, just off US Hwy 377, the marina has long been a staple for boaters, anglers, and weekend adventurers. For now, though, it’s anyone’s guess when—or if—Benbrook Lake Marina will reopen its gates.
Until more information surfaces, residents are left to hope that the story of this local landmark ends not in silence, but in a strong return just in time for lake season.
