If you have ever looked at a jar of homemade pickles or jam and thought, “I should learn how to do that,” Stone’s Throw Farm Co. has an afternoon planned for you.
The local farm is hosting a canning class Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m., giving participants a hands-on introduction to making both pickles and jam.
The $45 class includes the supplies, snacks and drinks, plus something to take home. Everyone leaves with a freshly made jar of pickles and a jar of jam.
Stone’s Throw says its canning classes typically sell out, so reservations are required.
Beyond learning a useful kitchen skill, it is a chance to spend a couple of hours making something from scratch, meeting a few new people and heading home with two jars that might not last very long once opened.
