After weeks of frustration and tough results, the Western Hills Lady Cougars finally found their moment Tuesday night. In brutal cold and swirling wind, the Cougars opened district play with a performance that felt like a reset.
Entering the match at 0-11 on the season and coming off three games without a goal, Western Hills faced Fort Worth’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy, a team also searching for its first win. What followed was a complete shift in momentum. The Lady Cougars came out aggressive, confident, and locked in, scoring seven goals while keeping YWLA off the scoreboard.
The result marked the Cougars’ first win of the season and an encouraging 1-0 start in district play. More than the scoreline, it was the response that mattered. After being outscored 22-0 over their previous three matches, the Cougars showed resilience and belief when it counted.
Western Hills now sits at 1-11 overall and returns to action tonight, hosting the Eastern Hills Lady Highlanders at Western Hills High School. Kickoff is set for 6 pm, giving fans a chance to rally behind a team riding fresh momentum.
