Is Benbrook Ready for a New Kind of Restaurant?

Sometimes one simple post turns into a full-blown neighborhood debate. This week, it was about food.

A Louisiana native who has lived here a few years shared a pretty honest thought. It was not about missing Cajun cooking. That is covered at home. It was about wanting more solid, casual restaurant options right here in Benbrook.

The point was simple. When families want a relaxed night out with a big menu and something for everyone, many still head to Bryant Irvin, Hulen, or deeper into Fort Worth.

Paisanoโ€™s and Hoffbrau came up as local staples. Others mentioned Jakes, and Tacos and Avocado shops on the way.

Some reminded everyone that we are only minutes from plenty of restaurants. A few suggested reaching out to favorite chains directly. And yes, someone joked that unless it serves fried chicken, it may not make it in Chickenbrook.

Before long, it was not about one personโ€™s taste.

It turned into a bigger question about what kind of dining scene people actually want. Some are hoping for a family-friendly place with burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafood, and pasta all under one roof.

Others are fine with making the short drive to Waterside or Camp Bowie. A few wondered where anything new would even go since Benbrook is pretty built out.

At the heart of it, this is what it always is. People care about their town. They want more reasons to stay close to home.

For now, many will keep driving a few minutes for dinner. But conversations like this matter. If enough people want something different on the strip, it may start with simply saying so by emailing the Benbrook City Council, specifically the mayor at mayor@benbrook-tx.gov.
