Today, we pause to recognize Juneteenth, a powerful reminder of freedom delayed, but not denied.
On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and all enslaved people were free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth marks that moment of long-awaited liberation. It’s a day to remember the resilience of Black Americans, to honor the legacy of those who fought for justice, and to recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of equality and dignity for all.
Wherever we stand in our understanding or relationships with one another, today is an invitation to learn, to listen, and to hope. From Benbrook Life, we honor this day with respect and look forward together with purpose and unity.
