Hit-and-Run Reported in Benbrook Whataburger Parking Lot.

A Benbrook resident is asking for the community’s help after a hit-and-run incident in the Benbrook Whataburger parking lot near Highway 377 late yesterday morning.

According to Heather Minton, the rear of her vehicle was struck between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m. during a busy giveaway period. She says traffic in the lot was backed up and chaotic when a large black SUV attempted to exit through a side entry and hit her car. Despite noticing the impact, the SUV reportedly accelerated quickly toward Highway 377 and left the scene.

Minton recalls the passenger as a white, blonde woman wearing a light-colored hat and a dark coat. She believes the occupants were aware of the collision before leaving. Several bystanders later commented that congestion in the lot made additional incidents likely that morning.

Minton says she is working with Whataburger management and plans to speak with the general manager to clarify next steps. She is also hopeful that nearby traffic cameras along Highway 377 may help identify the vehicle.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the black SUV involved is encouraged to contact the Benbrook Police Department to help with the investigation.

This serves as a reminder to remain alert in crowded parking lots and to report any details that could help resolve a hit-and-run.
