Helping Young Readers Grow Starts with One Afternoon of Service.

BENBROOK, TX — A simple idea is bringing families together across Fort Worth. Make learning fun early, and children carry it for life.

Fort Worth ISD’s Parent Partnerships Department is inviting volunteers to support its Zero to Five Program, an initiative focused on early childhood literacy. The upcoming event at M.G. Ellis Elementary is designed to help young children and their families engage with reading and basic math through hands-on activities like block play and matching games.

The effort goes beyond the classroom. Volunteers will help create a welcoming space by assisting with setup, guiding families, organizing supplies such as groceries and diapers, and supporting registration and the Bookmobile.

There are two ways to get involved. Volunteers can help with setup on Friday, March 27, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., or serve during the event on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place in the gym at M.G. Ellis Elementary, located at 215 NE 14th Street in Fort Worth.

No special background is required. Bilingual volunteers, English speakers, and Spanish-only speakers are all welcome, reflecting the diverse families being served.
