FORT WORTH, TX—After a four-month search, the Fort Worth ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously selected Dr. Karen Molinar as the lone finalist for the district’s permanent superintendent position.
Molinar, who has served as interim superintendent since October, brings 27 years of experience within FWISD, having worked as a teacher, principal, chief of elementary schools, and deputy superintendent. She steps into the role amid budget shortfalls and declining enrollment, with the district considering potential campus closures—a process she assures is still in early stages and will involve community input before any decisions are made.
Committed to student success, Molinar has already championed literacy initiatives and STARR test improvements, aligning with FWISD’s strategic plan to accelerate academic achievement. Pending a state-mandated 21-day waiting period, the board is expected to officially appoint her as superintendent on March 11.
