Tarrant County is experiencing a sharp rise in flu cases, with health officials warning that the region may be at the peak of flu season.
According to Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH), more than one in four emergency room visits were for flu-like symptoms—higher than last year’s peak of 21%.
School-age children have been hit especially hard, making up two-thirds of all ER visits for the flu. Flu-related illnesses accounted for more than 15% of student absences.
So far this season, 46 flu outbreaks have been reported, with 41 occurring in schools.
