As dove season approaches, many hunters in Benbrook are asking the same question: Where can you find land to hunt nearby?

While private property is always an option if you know a willing landowner, public access points are limited but available.

One spot locals point to is just south of Benbrook near Whisky Flats along the Trinity River. From Highway 377, head to FM 1187, go east about a quarter mile, then turn left and follow the signs to the designated hunting area.

So far, many residents say opportunities in or immediately around Benbrook are tough to find, but checking with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for public land access can help. For those lucky enough to secure private property, remember to carry the proper license and certification.
