The 47th annual Cowtown Marathon took center stage this weekend, drawing a crowd of over 26,000 participants from across the U.S. and 14 countries for a race-filled two days.
Known as a Boston Marathon qualifier, the event saw fierce competition across all race categories and a display of impressive athleticism.
In the Half Marathon, Fort Worthโs Maxwell Murphy, 24, claimed first place with a time of 1:08:47, followed by Preston Newsome of Brooklyn, New York, in second at 1:09:33. For the women, Jennifer Pope of Plano took the top spot with a time of 1:18:59, outpacing Caitlin Keen from Fort Worth (1:21:25) and Ashley Montgomery from New York (1:22:37).
The Marathonโs menโs race was led by Jarrett Kirk of Flower Mound, finishing in 2:26:00, while Lauren Kelly from Philadelphia took the womenโs title at 2:52:51. Sadie Smith, 46, from Kirkwood, Missouri, came in second at 2:56:19, with Jodi Jordan from Dallas close behind at 2:57:02.
In the Ultra Marathon, Brent Williams, 32, from Aledo, took first place in 3:19:14, while Kristen Beiza from Kannapolis, North Carolina, won the womenโs event in 4:04:52. Diana Filtz from Benbrook finished second in the womenโs race with 4:05:55.
The 10K race saw Austin Del Rosso, 29, from River Oaks, finish in 34:38.06, while Rena Elmer, 42, from Flower Mound, dominated the womenโs field with a time of 34:38.04.
For the Adult 5K, Christopher Shirk, 28, from Arlington, took first in 17:11.06, and Esperanza Lopez, 34, from Fort Worth, finished first for the women at 18:10.05.
The 2025 Cowtown Marathon lived up to its reputation, with standout performances and an incredible community turnout, all gearing up for next year’s event, set for February 27-March 1, 2026.
