There was a time when our beloved community was referred to regionally as Miranda.
However, around 1880, a new railroad station was installed and named after the man most desirous to open the new station, James Benbrook. Mr. Benbrook had petitioned the Texas & Pacific Railroad for quite some time, asking them to place a new station heading West out of Forth Worth along Marys Creek. Benbrook Station opened in 1880, and the rest, as they say, is history.
