As Benbrook Youth Baseball & Softball Association prepares for future seasons, league leaders are working to improve the player evaluation process while reassuring families that the goal is development, not disruption.
In a message to parents, BYBSA acknowledged recent questions about evaluations and their potential implications for team placement moving forward. League officials emphasized that the current focus is not on breaking up established teams or changing the relationships that have helped shape the league’s culture.
Instead, evaluations are being designed as a tool to better understand player skill levels, assist coaches, support player development, and help place new athletes or those seeking teams in situations where they can succeed.
League leaders also noted that the weather has frequently prevented evaluations from taking place in past years, despite efforts to implement them. They believe the events can provide a fun, positive experience for players while helping to create more balanced and competitive games.
BYBSA says additional details will be shared as the process progresses, with the board committed to thoughtful planning, clear communication, and decisions that support players, families, coaches, and the league’s long-term success.
For now, league officials say one thing remains unchanged: the focus is on creating the best possible experience for Benbrook’s young athletes.
