Bobcats Hoops Fall to Dunbar, Look Ahead to Senior Night.

The Benbrook boys basketball team arrived at Wilkerson-Greines on Tuesday, riding a three-game winning streak and carrying momentum into a key district matchup with Dunbar. The last meeting between the two teams ended in a tough loss, and the Bobcats were eager to flip the script.

Early on, though, it looked promising. Brennan Barton caught fire in the opening quarter, scoring all 11 of Benbrook’s points to give the Bobcats an 11-7 lead.

The game settled into a tight battle, with Dunbar turning up its full-court pressure in the second quarter. As the Wildcats focused on containing Barton, Maddox Thompson, Jayden Bradshaw, and Jayden Hall stepped in with timely baskets to help Benbrook take a 26-23 lead into halftime.

The third quarter brought challenges. Barton cooled off, shots around the rim did not fall, and the Wildcats’ pace began to tilt the game. Still, back-to-back three pointers from Bradshaw and added buckets from Hall and Thompson kept the Bobcats within reach at 39-36 heading into the final period.

The turning point, though, came midway through the fourth when Barton went down with a knee injury and had to leave the game. His absence disrupted the offense and shifted momentum. But Will Cook and Dorien Johnson added late points, but the Wildcats pulled away down the stretch for a 61-46 win.

Barton led Benbrook with 16 points, followed by Hall with 10 and Bradshaw with 8. The Bobcats are now 19-12 overall and 7-3 in district play, third in the standings. With a playoff berth already secured, the focus turns to finishing strong.
