The Benbrook Bobcats opened the 2026 football season with plenty of offense and a win, outlasting Trimble Tech 42-34 Thursday night at Farrington Field.
The Aug. 27 opener went back and forth before Benbrook finally pulled ahead for the eight-point victory. Dorien Johnson led the offensive standouts with four touchdowns, while Lucas Davis accounted for three more, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another.
Benbrook also recognized Griffin Womack and Grayson Gammons along the offensive line, Tatum Randall and Izaiah Smith on defense, and Tyler Newman on special teams. Gavin Cole earned Scout Team Player of the Week honors.
It was a strong start for a Bobcat team that had to earn every bit of its first win. After one week, Benbrook is 1-0 and officially off to a strong start in 2026.
