The Benbrook Bobcats turned a tough season around Friday night with a thrilling 28-22 win over the Dunbar Wildcats, snapping a three-game skid and improving to 3-3 on the year.
What looked like another nail-biter ended in a dramatic way. With just seven seconds left and Dunbar threatening to score on fourth and goal, a Benbrook linebacker delivered a hard hit that jarred the ball loose. It bounced between several players before finally landing in Bobcat’s hands, sealing the victory and setting off celebrations on the sideline.
Dunbarโs penalties told much of the story. The Wildcats saw multiple touchdowns called back for holding, along with several costly unsportsmanlike conduct flags that stalled key drives. Despite those setbacks, they nearly clawed their way to a comeback before Benbrookโs defense shut the door.
Now riding the momentum of their most decisive win of the season, the Bobcats look ahead to their next matchup against Godley on Friday at 7 p.m. With Godleyโs defense allowing more than 40 points per game, fans could see another strong offensive night from Benbrookโs surging squad.
