Benbrook fans witnessed a rare milestone this week as senior guard Brennan Barton crossed the 1,000-point mark in his high school basketball career.
It is a benchmark few players ever reach, and Barton did it in classic fashion, helping lift the Bobcats to a gritty 63-58 overtime win against Gatesville in the opening round of the Godley tournament.
Coaches describe Barton as one of the most competitive athletes to come through the program, and with several games still ahead this season, his total is far from finished. The win pushed Benbrook to a 2-0 start in tournament play, setting up today’s matchup against Dalhart at 3:45 p.m.
Bobcat Nation has plenty to celebrate. Barton has secured his place in school history, and the team is building real momentum as they chase a strong tournament run.
