Benbrook Sophomore Competes on National Stage at Marucci World Series.

Competing against some of the nation’s top travel baseball talent is no small feat, and Benbrook’s Miles Umscheid recently did just that.

The Benbrook Middle-High School sophomore represented Victus Elite Louisiana 2029 Franchise 15U at the 10th Annual Marucci World Series, held July 19 through July 24 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The premier tournament brought together elite teams from across the country while giving players the opportunity to perform in front of college scouts.

Victus Elite opened the tournament with an impressive 8-4 victory over Knights Knation Marucci. Umscheid set the tone on the mound, pitching six strong innings and striking out six batters as the offense collected 10 hits. He was later recognized as the team’s Player of the Game for his standout performance.

After dropping the first game of a doubleheader the following day, Victus bounced back with a 7-4 win over MMW Arizona 2029 Summer 15U. Nicolas Morales and Aiden Parong each hit two-run home runs, while Drew Collins struck out nine batters in four innings. Umscheid added two hits to help fuel the offense.

Victus Elite’s tournament run came to an end on July 23 against the Dodgers Scout Team 15U, but the organization praised the team for competing with toughness, discipline, and class throughout the week against some of the country’s best competition.

In addition to playing for Victus Elite Louisiana, Umscheid also competes with MVP 16U Hook, continuing to build on an impressive baseball résumé as he prepares for another season at Benbrook Middle-High School.
