The Benbrook Senior Center is closing out the year with a full calendar of games, gatherings, and holiday cheer.
With doors open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the center is offering something almost every day for residents looking to stay active and connected.
Weekly favorites continue as usual. Bridge meets Mondays and Thursdays at 9 a.m., Canasta on Thursdays, and 42 Dominoes on Tuesdays and Fridays. Hand and Foot meets daily, while Mexican Train Dominoes gathers at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Chair Yoga takes place Tuesdays at 9 a.m., and Pegs and Jokers meets Mondays and Fridays at noon.
The month’s special events bring plenty of seasonal spirit. Bingo and cake with Senior Healthcare Advisor Maleah Ensey kicked off the event on December 3. Friday Night Bingo returns December 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The center will meet at the Lions Club on December 10 and 11. Also on December 10, the annual Christmas Party begins at 11:30 a.m. with cookie decorating, a gift exchange, and rock painting.
On December 17 at 11:30 a.m., the center hosts a “Beat the Holiday Blues” presentation with cookies and hot chocolate provided by Alex Hels with Overture Home Care. Prior registration is required for this event. The center will close December 25 and 26 for Christmas.
The final outing of the year takes place on December 31 at 11:30 a.m., with a field trip to Ginger Brown’s Old Tyme Restaurant and Bakery. Prior registration is required. The center will also be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day.
