Some Benbrook residents are taking notice of Oncor’s ongoing streetlight upgrades, and not everyone is thrilled.
As part of a regional lighting initiative, Oncor has begun replacing traditional amber streetlights with exposed cool-white LEDs across several neighborhoods.
While the new lights are designed to be energy efficient and longer-lasting, some locals say the brightness is excessive, creating glare and unwanted light spilling into homes at night. The lack of diffusers or hoods on the new fixtures has sparked conversations about light pollution and nighttime comfort in residential areas.
