The Benbrook Police Department has earned its fifth state accreditation, continuing a distinction it first received 16 years ago.
According to the City of Benbrook, the department successfully completed the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) Law Enforcement Accreditation Program for the fifth time in 2026.
Benbrook first earned accreditation in 2010, becoming the first police department in Tarrant County and only the 36th law enforcement agency in Texas to receive the recognition.
Of the nearly 2,800 law enforcement agencies statewide, approximately 220 hold accreditation, representing fewer than 10%.
To qualify, departments must demonstrate compliance with more than 173 standards covering law enforcement operations, professionalism, and accountability. The accreditation process requires a comprehensive review every four years to maintain that status.
With its latest accreditation, the Benbrook Police Department continues a 16-year record of meeting the programโs standards while serving the Benbrook community.
