There were plenty of emotions inside the auditorium last week as students, parents, former musicians, and supporters gathered for Ms. O’Brien’s final concert at Benbrook Middle-High School.
Hosted by the school’s Orchestra Booster Club, the evening marked the close of a longtime chapter for a teacher many families say helped shape not only musicians but also students and memories that spanned generations.
Supporters filled social media afterward with messages of gratitude, sharing stories about the impact Ms. O’Brien had on their children and the school’s music program over the years.
“It was such an incredible night,” one parent shared online. “I’m so grateful my child was able to learn from you.”
Others thanked her for years of dedication to the music community and for the encouragement she gave students both on and off the stage.
The concert also served as a reunion of sorts, bringing together current and former orchestra students while celebrating the relationships built over years of rehearsals, performances, competitions, and concerts.
