The Benbrook Public Library is taking an essential step toward greater inclusion by launching a new AAC-centered Storytime in the new year, designed specifically for tweens and teens ages 12 to 18 who rely on augmentative and alternative communication.
To make it meaningful from day one, the library is partnering with a local Speech Language Pathologist and asking the community to help guide the program’s direction. Families, caregivers, and anyone connected to a child who uses an AAC device are encouraged to share input through a short survey at https://form.jotform.com/253375658416062.
The goal is simple and powerful: create a welcoming space where communication differences are understood, supported, and celebrated.
