Community spirit was on full display recently as Benbrook’s Girl Scout Troop 2504, led by Tammy Currie, stepped up to support Leonard Middle School’s new after-school tennis program.
The effort came together through the vision of Veronica Lopez, the school’s family engagement specialist, who has been working to create opportunities that keep students active and connected after the bell rings. When the call went out for supplies, Troop 2504 didn’t hesitate. Inspired by troop member Crissy’s suggestion, the girls collected and donated items to help launch the program.
Their generosity not only provided much-needed equipment but also showed what happens when neighbors come together to make a difference. It was a small act with a big impact, and a reminder that serving the community starts with simple steps and willing hearts.
