Benbrook Elementary families are getting ready for one of the most anticipated community nights of the spring as Spring Fling returns Friday, May 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Hosted by Benbrook Elementary and the Benbrook Elementary PTA, the event will take place at BES with entry through the back gate on Cozby Street North. Parents must be present, and admission is $5 per person. Cash is preferred, though families can also pre-pay by QR code before April 30. All sales are final.
This year’s Spring Fling is packed with activities designed to keep the whole family moving and smiling. Guests can enjoy music from DJ Lee Espinoza, balloon twisters, face painting, a photo booth, train rides, games, a petting zoo, an obstacle course, and even a dunk tank.
One of the biggest additions this year is the new Grade Level Silent Auction, where families can bid on themed baskets created by Benbrook Elementary parents.
The evening will also feature a cake walk at 6:30 and 7 p.m., along with a raffle at 7:15 p.m. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and winners must be present to claim prizes.
Food will also be available for $1 per item, including pickles, chips, and drinks. Separate vendor purchases will also be available from The Coney Guy, Funky Town Freeze, and The Loaded Mule.
Event organizers also extended a special thank you to community sponsors helping make the night possible, including the Benbrook Police Officers Association, FootWorks Performing Arts Center, and Southern Painting.
As the countdown continues, the PTA is also asking for a little extra help from families. Donations are still needed for 2-liter sodas of any kind, along with cakes, cookies, and desserts.
Sodas can be dropped off throughout the week of April 27 through May 1 with homeroom teachers or at the front office. Cakes and desserts should be brought to the school on Friday, May 1, before 4 p.m.
Spring Fling has always been more than just a school event. It is one of those nights where families reconnect, kids make memories, and the whole community shows up for each other. If you have ever needed a good reason to spend a Friday night at school, this is probably it.
