AI is Reshaping Campus Life at TCU.

•

Generative artificial intelligence is rapidly changing higher education, and Texas Christian University is no exception.

From writing papers to preparing for exams, students are leaning heavily on AI tools to manage their workload. A global student survey reveals that 86 percent of students utilize AI in their studies, with more than half relying on it weekly and nearly a quarter using it daily.

At TCU, ChatGPT is the most widely used platform. Students say it helps them draft essays, study for exams, and even polish résumés. While many credit it with boosting grades and productivity, some worry that heavy use dulls their critical thinking skills.

Others are turning to Google’s NotebookLM, which generates study guides, key term definitions, and even podcast-style overviews of class materials. For busy students, this has become a time-saving lifeline that helps balance academics with campus life.

The university itself is preparing for a future where AI is central to education. TCU plans to invest significantly in AI infrastructure in 2026, aiming to enhance research, creativity, and scholarship as part of its strategic plan. The Koehler Center has already started training faculty through workshops that focus on responsible and effective ways to integrate AI into coursework.

For TCU, the rise of generative AI represents more than a shift in technology. It is reshaping how students learn, how professors teach, and how universities prepare graduates for careers in an AI-driven world.
