For many Benbrook-area residents, places like JD’s Hamburgers and Margie’s Italian Garden are more than restaurants. They are part of the rhythm of growing up, gathering with family, and grabbing a familiar meal close to home.
Now, another longtime Westland favorite is preparing for its next chapter.
Westland Hospitality recently announced plans to partner with Roy Pope Grocery’s current ownership to preserve the well-known Roy Pope name while introducing a refreshed dining concept centered on hospitality, local history, and Southern Americana-inspired flavors at the longtime Merrick Street location.
The announcement signals a blend of old and new for a spot many Fort Worth residents have known for decades. While changes are coming, the goal appears focused on honoring the character and community connection that made Roy Pope a neighborhood staple in the first place.
