What began as a rescue call late this afternoon near the 12900 block of Aledo Iona Road has now shifted into a recovery effort, just southwest of Benbrook in Tarrant County.
First responders from both Parker and Tarrant counties were dispatched around 5:15 p.m. to the scene of a trench collapse. The area quickly filled with emergency units, including a CareFlite helicopter placed on standby. By 5:50 p.m., the helicopter was called off. Just after 6:15 p.m., officials confirmed that the situation had become a recovery rather than a rescue.
The site is now under Tarrant County’s jurisdiction. While the scene is off the main roadway, residents are still asked to avoid the area to allow crews the space they need.
This is a developing story. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
