Millsap Running Back Honors Late Father with Six-Touchdown Performance.

Just hours after losing his father and head football coach to leukemia, 40 minutes west of Benbrook, Millsap High School running back Braun Johnson took the field Friday night and delivered a performance few will forget.

Johnson, a Class of 2028 standout, rushed for 330 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 23 yards per carry, after his father passed away earlier that morning.

For the past three years, Johnson watched his father battle leukemia while continuing to balance school, football, and training. Through it all, he remained committed to the game and the work required to compete at a high level.

And his numbers speak for themselves. Through eight games, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back has rushed for 2,165 yards and 30 touchdowns, drawing interest from college programs across the country. He currently holds a Division I offer from Lamar University.

But Friday night’s performance carried a weight far beyond football.

For Johnson, it was a night of playing through unimaginable grief while honoring the father who helped shape him as both a player and a young man.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Braun, the Johnson family, and the Millsap community as they mourn the loss of a son, husband, fathed, and coach.
