A simple idea to bring neighbors together over Mahjong has already struck a chord in Benbrook.
The inaugural Benbrook MAHJ gathering at Benbrook Tea & Wellness drew an enthusiastic crowd of new and experienced players for an evening filled with laughter, learning, and new friendships.
Organizer Carrie thanked everyone who attended, calling it “a fantastic night” and expressing her appreciation to Benbrook Tea & Wellness for hosting the event and serving “wonderful teas and goodies.”
She also gave special thanks to her brother, Don McQueary, for helping to unload equipment, to Vickie for assisting with setup and cleanup, and to Kim for being “a bright light and constant source of moral support.”
As interest continues to grow, Carrie said the group may eventually move to a larger nearby location, but one thing will not change: Benbrook MAHJ will always be free to attend.
Several attendees shared how much they enjoyed the evening, from learning new variations of the game to discovering a welcoming way to meet fellow residents. For those just getting started, players also recommended American Mah Jongg for Beginners by Noah Pierce as a helpful introduction.
