Fort Worth ISD Reminds Families That Phones Must Stay Put During the School Day.

โ€ข

As students head back to class, Fort Worth ISD is reminding families that personal communication devices, including cell phones, must remain powered off, put away, and out of sight throughout the instructional day.

The district says the policy, adopted in accordance with Texas House Bill 1481 and Fort Worth ISD Board Policy FNCE (LOCAL), is intended to reduce distractions, maximize learning time, and create a safer, more focused classroom environment.

Parents should know that if a device is seen, heard, or used during the school day, it will be confiscated and disciplinary consequences will follow. Penalties increase with repeated violations, beginning with end-of-day pickup by a parent or guardian after a first offense and progressing to longer confiscation periods and additional disciplinary action for repeat offenses.

The district encourages families to review expectations with their children before school starts, ensure devices are secured each morning, and contact the campus office if they need to reach their student during the school day. Medical exceptions require district-approved documentation.

The message from Fort Worth ISD is straightforward: Phones away. Minds engaged. Learning first.
