Local Ranch Offers Premium Horse Hay at Cost.

Sometimes a great crop doesn’t guarantee a great market.

After producing what she calls their best hay yet, Rhonda McDonald Siver, the owner of Yellowsnake Horses, is offering this year’s fresh-cut horse hay at cost after demand slowed over the past two seasons.

The hay has been fertilized, is free of stickers, and was grown specifically with horse owners in mind. According to Siver, each bale costs about $85 to produce, and that’s exactly what she’s asking for it.

With enough quality hay left over from last year to feed her own horses and cattle through the winter, she hopes this year’s harvest can benefit other local livestock owners instead.

Because of the high production costs and soft market, she also plans to skip a second cutting, letting her cattle graze the remaining field.

Anyone interested in purchasing horse hay can call 469-363-2658 for availability and additional information.
