Western Hills TAFE Shines at State Competition, Qualifies for Nationals.

The Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) at Western Hills High School is celebrating a major victory as they return from the state competition with impressive results and national qualifications!

Three standout students have earned a coveted spot at the National TAFE competition:

  • Edith and Elaina created an interactive bilingual bulletin board for a 1st-grade dual language class, showcasing materials in both English and Spanish, which real elementary students tested.
  • Lourane and Edith took their talents to the next level by crafting a full lesson plan, worksheets, and a PowerPoint—all in Spanish—and successfully delivered it to elementary school students.

Additionally, the team earned five Silver Awards at the state level for their exceptional work:

  • Daisy and Daissy impressed with a thought-provoking paper and presentation on whether teachers should attend their students’ family graduation parties.
  • Sophia, Sam, and Isabel created a compelling Public Service Announcement aimed at recruiting college students into the teaching profession.

With these accomplishments, the TAFE program at Western Hills High School is proving to be a powerhouse for aspiring educators, and these talented students are poised to make waves at the national stage.

Stay tuned as they continue to make us proud!
