A recent discussion on the Positively Benbrook Facebook page prompted a reminder from admin Danna McFarlane Addison about the purpose behind one of the community’s largest online gathering spaces.
According to Addison, a TST-centric (The Satanic Temple) post was automatically removed by Facebook under the platform’s policies, sparking a range of reactions among members. While many shared their opinions respectfully, some comments crossed the line into personal attacks and disrespectful behavior.
In response, Addison reiterated that the page’s mission is to foster a positive space where neighbors, local businesses, and community organizations can connect, share information, and support one another.
She emphasized that respectful discussion is welcome, but insulting or demeaning comments directed at other members are not. The page’s rules, she noted, are intended to keep conversations productive and community-focused.
Addison also thanked the overwhelming majority of members who continue to make Positively Benbrook a welcoming place for local news, recommendations, celebrations, and neighborhood connections.
As Benbrook continues to grow, community spaces both online and offline often work best when neighbors can disagree respectfully while keeping the focus on what brings the community together.
