Benbrook Elementary Asks Residents to Help Protect Donation Program.

What seems like a simple donation bin does a lot more than collect old clothes.

At Benbrook Elementary, the campus WorldWear donation bins help raise funds that directly support teachers, students, and school programs. But PTA leaders say a growing problem is putting that benefit at risk.

According to the Benbrook Elementary Bulldogs PTA, an increasing number of items are being left outside the bins, creating an unauthorized dumping site. The organization is reminding residents that only donations that fit inside the bins can be accepted.

The WorldWear program collects gently used clothing, shoes, and other textile items, giving them a second life through reuse and recycling. In return, the PTA receives a portion of the proceeds, which helps fund school activities and resources.

Items left outside the containers can be damaged by weather, pose safety risks, and increase cleanup costs. If a bin is full, residents are encouraged to hold donations until space becomes available rather than leaving them beside the container.

PTA leaders say the solution is simple: donate only accepted items and make sure they fit inside the bin.

A few extra moments can help keep the campus clean, protect an important fundraising program, and continue supporting Benbrook Elementary students and teachers for years to come.
