Major growth decisions that could shape the RM 2871 corridor for decades are now moving into public discussion, and local residents are being encouraged to take part this week.
The City of Fort Worth is hosting a public open house on Monday, May 4, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the City Hall Lobby at 100 Fort Worth Trail as part of the Fort Worth 2050 Comprehensive Plan process.
The long-range plan will guide future land-use, development, and infrastructure decisions across the city, including areas surrounding RM 2871 and the growing western edge of Fort Worth.
Community advocates say the process gives residents a direct opportunity to share what they want the corridor to look like in the future, especially as development pressure continues to expand westward.
In addition to the in-person meeting, the city is also collecting public feedback online through an interactive brainstorming tool where residents can leave comments about future growth priorities.
Participants are encouraged to visit https://connectfw.com/comprehensive-plan and select the “Where Should Fort Worth Grow?” section to leave comments connected to categories such as “Outside the City / City Edge Development,” “Undeveloped Land Near the Outskirts,” and “Along Major Roads & Highways.”
Suggested comment language and additional guidance are also available at https://2871community.org/take-action.
As growth discussions accelerate across North Texas, residents along the corridor are being reminded that long-term plans are often shaped by those who choose to show up early in the process.
