Benbrook Invites Students to Join Bike & Roll to School Day.

Sometimes the best way to start the school day is simply getting outside.

On Wednesday, May 6, Benbrook students and families are invited to take part in Bike & Roll to School Day, joining communities across the world in celebrating the benefits of biking, walking, and rolling to school.

The annual event encourages students to swap the usual car ride for a bike, a walk, a scooter, or any other safe, active way to get to campus. It is a simple idea with a big impact, helping students begin the day energized, connected, and moving.

The City of Benbrook is sharing the reminder as part of a larger effort to support healthier habits and safer routes for students throughout the community.

Beyond the fun, organizers say the day offers several important benefits: creating safe, convenient transportation options for all abilities, building stronger school and neighborhood connections, and helping kids enjoy the outdoors in meaningful ways.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments is also offering incentives for DFW schools participating in Bike Month. Schools have the chance to win a brand-new kids’ bike and helmet or even a Bike Month celebration for their campus.

It is also a chance to remind families that active transportation can be both practical and affordable while bringing a little more joy to the school routine.

A short walk, a bike ride with friends, or even rolling up to school on wheels can turn an ordinary Wednesday into something students remember.

Sometimes, the community starts one sidewalk at a time.
