On a Tuesday night that felt familiar in all the right ways for Benbrook, the Bobcats kept their momentum rolling.
Facing Western Hills Cougars in a crosstown matchup, Benbrook came in looking to extend a four-game win streak. They did just that, and they did it early.
Hudson Stockton set the tone in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that brought in the opening run. From there, the Bobcats never let up.
By the second inning, Pierce Battle added another sacrifice fly, and Chevy Martinez followed with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 3-0.
That was as close as the game would get.
While the offense built steady pressure, the real story unfolded on the mound. Chevy Martinez controlled the game from the start, shutting down the Cougars and never allowing a real scoring threat. The Cougars could not find a rhythm at the plate, and Benbrook took full advantage.
In the fourth and fifth innings, the Bobcats broke it open. Gilulianno Martinez and Trentin Hornbeck each drove in two runs, Brennan Barton added a sacrifice fly, and a defensive miscue helped push the score further out of reach.
Benbrook finished with nine hits, drew seven walks, and stayed aggressive on the bases with seven steals. Ethan Tucker led the way with two hits, while Evan Smith sparked movement on the basepaths with a pair of stolen bases.
On the mound, Martinez secured the win in dominant fashion, backed by clean relief innings from Stockton and Hornbeck to seal a 13-0 shutout.
With the win, the Bobcats move to 12-7-1 overall and remain unbeaten in district play at 4-0.
Next up is a road trip to Iowa Park on Saturday, where Benbrook will look to keep the streak alive and continue building what is quickly becoming a strong district run.
